St. Andrews beats Oxford and Cambridge in the newly released university rankings
April 8th 2023- The Guardian University Guide is released to reveal the top ranking universities in the UK. According to the UK University Guide 2023, St. Andrews scored 100/100 and becomes the top UK university. Featuring categories like satisfaction score, continuation and value added score, St. Andrews University becomes the #1 university in the UK.
Oxford stands at the second position with a 99.4 score, whereas Cambridge University scores 98.1 to secure the third position in the Guardian University Rankings 2023. Other top ten universities in the UK include the London School of Economics, Imperial College, Durham, Bath, Warwick, UCL and Loughborough universities. All these universities scored above 82 for the offered education, values and career placements.
The guide included the top 121 UK universities and ranked institutions based on career prospects and student satisfaction. It is reported that St. Andrews the #1 university in Scotland, has beaten the top UK universities for the time in the Guardian league table.
The principal and Vice Chancellor, Professor Dame Sally Mapstone commented that it is a significant achievement for them and that the hard working students and staff at St. Adrews totally deserve this recognition.
The league table also ranked universities based on subjects and the London School of Economics ranked the table for accounting and finance. On the other hand, Oxford secures a score of 100 for Business and Management.
St. Andrews ranked first in specialisations in chemistry, biology, international relations, history, art, neuroscience, economics and English. Cambridge University tops the list for psychological and behavioural science, sociology and social policy, computer science and information systems, architecture and politics courses. The university league table kept Oxford on the top for specialisations in Fine arts, language and linguistics, business and management, Mathematics, biomedical science, philosophy and ancient history.
